Karachi Mayor Murtaza Wahab has announced that all ongoing development projects across Karachi will be completed by June 30, setting an ambitious deadline for infrastructure improvements in the city.

The mayor made the statement during a late-night visit to various parts of the city, where he reviewed progress on multiple development schemes alongside administrative officials. He expressed satisfaction with the pace of work and reiterated the commitment of the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation to improving urban infrastructure.

Speaking to the media, Wahab said that significant progress is being made on key roads and projects. He highlighted ongoing work in Shadman Town as well as rapid development on Shahrah-e-Bhutto, both of which are considered important for easing traffic congestion and enhancing connectivity in the city.

The mayor described the current year as one focused on completing development initiatives, noting that visible improvements would be seen across all towns. He added that the KMC plans to spend approximately Rs 68 billion during the year on various infrastructure and civic projects, including roads, drainage systems, and public facilities.

Officials accompanying the mayor said that efforts are being made to ensure timely completion despite challenges such as traffic management, weather conditions, and coordination between departments. They emphasised that monitoring visits would continue to maintain momentum.

Urban development in Karachi has long been a major concern for residents, with issues such as road conditions and infrastructure gaps frequently highlighted. The latest announcement is seen as an effort to address these concerns and accelerate progress.

If completed on schedule, the projects are expected to improve mobility, reduce congestion, and enhance overall living conditions in Pakistan’s largest city.
